If you are unhappy, ask yourself these 3 questions:
1. What emotion am I feeling?
2. What is the thought that is causing my emotion?
3. How is this thought related to a SOCIAL problem?
Better yet, fantasize about being a "good enough" social person, and in your fantasy look for the problem that is making you unhappy. Does it exist? Probably not. Most of us experience anxiety, depression, jealousy, anger, problem solving deficits, social skills deficits, and a slew of other problem. If we look close enough, we may find a social root to our problem. This makes it easier to deal with.
Working with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist on becoming "good enough" socially often leads to overcoming your emotional problems, meeting and keeping a suitable partner, and maintaining a stable, healthy, happy life.
