Generalized Anxiety Disorder PDF Print E-mail
Generalized Anxiety Disorder is a condition where the individual experiences a constant worry, anxiety, nervousness, and is usually highly alert. The individual is highly sensitive to adversities, and therefore generally interprets situations as problematic, when others wouldn’t. For example an individual with Generalized Anxiety Disorder may interpret a conversation from a loved one as a rejection when in reality is isn’t one. The individual then reacts to the rejection further disturbing themselves by self downing. Generalized Anxiety Disorder is treated by identifying the anxiety producing thoughts, forcefully disputing then, and coming up with rational alternative thoughts and coping statements.
